People who have an ancestor born in the Slovak Republic prior to 1990, may be eligible for Slovakian citizenship by descent, or for obtaining a Residence Permit to stay in the Slovakian Republic.
In order to apply, you should try to acquire the birth certificates and marriage certificates of your Slovakian relative(s), and for each of the family members between you and that relative.
You may also need to prove your knowledge of Slovakian language and culture, or your efforts in learning about it.
